Tropical Storm Risk introduced the first extended-range tropical cyclone forecasts in 1998. They remain a trusted resource for the global risk and insurance industries. Based on projected Accumulated Cyclonic Energy (ACE), the forecasts offer early indication of storm activity and intensity.
Forecasts are issued for the North Atlantic and Northwest Pacific oceanic basins, starting before the season begins and continuing through the peak months. Known for their accuracy, they provide valuable input for exposure management, capital planning, and operational readiness. A final Summary and Verification report is released post-season, reviewing key storms, climatological influences, and forecast performance.
