The TSR Tropical Storm Tracker presents tropical cyclone data received from three tropical cyclone warning centres via the UK Met. Office DPDS service.These warning centres are the US National Weather Service Tropical Prediction Center/National Hurricane Center (TPC/NHC), the US National Weather Service Central Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC) and the US Navy and Air Force Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC).
Tropical cyclone warnings are issued by these agencies for each system that is active within the regions where they have coverage (see table below). The warnings contain current latitude and longitude coordinates, intensity, system motion and wind distribution information as well as forecasts of position, intensity and wind distribution for a range of lead times. See the wind fields document for more information on the wind distribution data. Current and forecast intensities are given by all of the above agencies as 1-minute maximum sustained winds to the nearest 5 knots.
The table below provides a summary of the data available for each tropical cyclone region:
|Region||Agency||Updates||Forecast Lead Times|
|North Atlantic||TPC/NHC||6 hourly||12, 24, 36, 48, 72, 96, 120 hrs|
|North East Pacific (east of 140W)||TPC/NHC||6 hourly||12, 24, 36, 48, 72, 96, 120 hrs|
|Central Pacific (140W-180W)||CPHC||6 hourly||12, 24, 36, 48, 72, 96, 120 hrs|
|North West Pacific||JTWC||6 hourly||12, 24, 36, 48, 72, 96, 120 hrs|

|Southern Hemisphere||JTWC||12 hourly||12, 24, 36, 48, 72 hrs|
Warning updates may be provided more frequently than indicated in the table due to significant changes in the cyclone or errors in the last warning issued.
Precipitation forecast data from the Met Office global model are received via the UK Met. Office DPDS service. These forecasts provide 6 hourly accumulated precipitation every 6 hours up to 48 hours ahead and 12 hourly accumulated precipitation every 12 hours beyond 48 hours. The forecasts are generated twice daily at midnight and midday and displayed on the TSR website approximately 8 hours later. The Met Office model forecast track is obtained from their tropical cyclone forecast guidance and contains the initial and forecast latitude and longitude coordinates of each storm.
